Natural Latex Mattresses versus Innerspring Mattresses
Natural latex mattresses have numerous benefits over traditional innerspring mattresses. Providing that 100% organic latex is used in their construction, natural latex mattresses are more durable, more comfortable, and more environmentally friendly than an innerspring alternative.
Natural latex mattresses use latex rubber foam in their construction. Whereas an innerspring mattress would use metal pieces for springs and supports, natural latex mattresses feature no metal components or movable parts. Natural latex construction gives these mattresses a comfortable level of support without the pressure points associated with innerspring mattresses. Additionally, because of the absence of springs and coils, natural latex mattresses transmit less movement than innerspring mattresses and consequently move less as a result of someone getting in or out of bed. In many cases, the natural support and structure of natural latex mattresses negates the need for a box spring.
Benefits of Natural Latex Mattresses
Traditionally, many chemical treatments are applied to innerspring mattresses to improve things like fire or pest-resistance. Natural latex mattresses are inherently flame-resistant and require no chemical treatments to make them more flameproof. Natural latex mattresses also naturally resist dust mites and other pests.
As a result of these benefits, consumers prefer natural latex mattresses to innerspring mattresses at a ratio of almost 3 to 1.
